links in subfolders

Panos

Hello again,

I know this is not the proper forum to post my question but if anyone knows
something about my question i would appreciate any answer..

I was looking the code that publisher generate for a page that located in a
subfolder ( ex. europe-hotels.gr/gr/greece/rest-of-attica/index_varkiza.htm )
from this page i sent many other links to other pages ( ex.
europe-hotels.gr/gr/greece/rest-of-attica/index_sounio.htm ) and always when
i build my website and i need to link other pages i use the method "place in
this document" and then i select the page that i want to link.

So the code that publisher generate is <a href="index_sounio.htm">

what i am worrying is if the link should be appreared in the full version <a
href="http://www.europe-hotels.gr/gr/greece/rest-of-attica/index_sounio.htm">
in order to be catched and undertandable for the search engines ( given that
it is located in a subfolder and not in the root folder ). Should i start
insert all the links by adding manual the full URL of the destination page?

I hope i explined well what i mean...has anyone idea about this????

Best regards
Panos

Hi again Panos,

I will offer my best guess...

If you mouseover your relative links in IE and look in the status bar, they
will display as relative. However, if you mouseover the same links in FF,
notice that the links are full path links, or absolute links. I don't think
it matters...the search engines will be able to figure it out.

I like working with absolute links because I use a lot of subfolders on my
directory, and it is easier for me to keep things clear in my mind. However,
I notice Don prefers to write relative links so...

I have read that the search engines will limit how deep they will go...how
many levels, in a directory, when they index it, but I don't know that for a
fact.

Hopefully someone else will have a more educated opinion and will add a
comment. Good luck.
