links not working - tried Reset Web Settings

I have seen several messages relating to "links not working", but the
solution generally provided does not solve my problem.
In outlook, hyperlinks in an email do not work - you click on them and
nothing happens. You right-click on them, and the options shown look like
they relate to the background, not a hyper link.
In word, you can type a www.domainname.com address and it will not highlite.
Word options to "automatically make internet links" is on. Also, clicking
"insert hyperlink" or right clicking on what should be a link and selecting
"hyperlink properties" does nothing.
I have WinXP Home SP2
Office 2003 Pro
I have tried:
1. Internet Options - Reset Web Settings
2. regsvr32 of urlmon.dll, shdocvw.dll, msjava.dll, actxprxy.dll,
oleaut32.dll, mshtml.dll, browseui.dll and shell32.dll
3. Reset of registry entries under
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
(IDispatch, ProxyStubClsid, ProxyStubClsid32 keys)
Reboots were done between attempts to make sure everything was "clean".
All these were suggested by various "fixes". None have solved the problem.
Any other ideas?

Hi Kirk,

If you're using Word 2003 then the default is ctrl+click
on hyperlinks (change in Tools=>Options).

Some firewall/privacy products will disable hyperlinks
unless you hold the shift key when clicking.
