Links on a .PPS

Raúl Sánchez

I'm working on a PPS file, it's necesary to link some .DOT and some .XLT files.

Here comes the problem, when I click on the links I open the template. What
I want is that a new template based document is generated.

Is it possible?

Thanks a lot

Hi Raúl,

If you are using a PPS file (which suggests that some people may need to run
this from the viewer), I do not think this can be done easily (of course you
can hyperlink to a VB6/C#/NET app that would create the document, but this
would flag all sorts of 'What are you doing, Dave?' warnings).

If you could insure that it would not use the viewer (non-distribution) than
a few lines of code in a macro would pop that puppy up there for you without
a problem. Of course this also assumes that you have VBA enabled and macro
security set to med/low.

Which is the case? Distribute, or non-distribute?

Hello Bill, all my clients have MS PowerPoint installed. We need to use a PPS
just in order to make users' life easier.

VBA y Macro Security are as you say.

Thanks from Spain

Try this macro

Sub OpenWord()
Dim wrd As Object
Set wrd = CreateObject("Word.application")
wrd.Visible = True
wrd.documents.Add
wrd.documents(1).ApplyTheme "Cascade"
Set wrd = Nothing
End Sub

You will need to add a lot of checks and error traps if this will be used by
the public. Currently, it will error if Word is open, if Word isn't
installed, if "Cascade design is not available, etc. etc.
