Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange Is there anyway to totally turn off linking? I have turned off what I can in preferences, but Entourage still makes links to saved messages in my sent box.
The reason I ask is because it appears that these links are causing problems with my Entourage database.
It becomes almost impossible to remove the links or the messages that are linked. Deleting a single message will cause the Database Daemon to run the processor at 90%-100% for as long as 15-20 min before finishing the delete. Rebuilding the database has no effect.

Uncheck in Entourage > Preferences > Address Book.

This isn¹t a known problem with linking. I suspect other issues.

I suggest creating a new Identity and enter your Exchange account. Entourage
will sync back to the server and this should solve any corruption issues.

If you have data in the folders ³On My Computer² you can export as .rge file
and import into the new Identity.

Thank you.

I have done that. Entourage still links messages to messages.

I have done that. Entourage would take 2-3 min to do a sort in a 1800 entry address book. I would really like not to have to do that again.
You mentioned other issues. Suggestions as to what they might be.
I have found Entourage 2008 much less stable than 2004. I am having it crash to Finder on a almost weekly basis.

Once the Address Book opens, click on the name column to re-sort your
contacts. That should cause Entourage to re-sort the list and speed things
up.

This usually has to do with fonts.

Microsoft fonts to delete after installing Snow Leopard (includes help
deleting font caches)

I don't think so.
Can I send you a text copy of the error report that was generated by the latest crash?
I am not a programmer so I cannot really understand what it says is going on, but it is consistant with other error reports I have looked at.

Just post the first part. Sometimes we can get a hint, but as you know it takes a programmer to read these things.

See this example of what to look for and the part to post. The bold part indicates where the problem is located.
