We had an exchange student from Norway live in our house for a year. We
purchased a set of MS Office Home & Student 2007 and put one copy on her
machine, one on my wife's, and one on mine. She has gone back home but now
her mother has purchased a laptop and would like a copy. We hace purchased
another set and would like to keep the three fresh copies we are allowed. We
would like to ship the other set to Norway and let them have the other two
copies. My question is, if I delete the old copies and reinstall using the
new ser and its product keys will Microsoft recognize the two remaining
copies on the old set as being available for use? If not, how do I get the
old two copies released and replaced out of my new set?

When you purchase a software license for Microsoft Office, you can
only install and use the software on the computers "you" actually own.
You are not permitted to share the software license with others.

ohnonotnow!

it's true you can't split up the 3 assignments, but as i read your original
post, you aren't considering doing that. i read that you want to send the
whole first set to Norway, while you install a fresh whole second set on your
u.s. home computers.
right?

if so, you can deactivate the license to any or all of the machines and
reassign to another machine or machines any amount of times with a 90day
waiting period. you can also transfer the software to another person (once
iirc).

BUT THE CATCH....might be the Norway, being its europe, but i have no real
knowledge on this.

i suggest first you read your own license terms

to check your particular license agreement, click the office circle logo at
the top of excel (say), <excel options>, <resources>, <about>, <"View the
microsoft software license terms" link.

does this help?

onnn!

An english language version of Office is the same in whatever country, there
is no specific US version
There will be no problems in activating, other than any usual ones.
