Listview Control with only vertical scrollbar

Could any one please suggest me how to create a listview control in
Excel which has only vertical scrollbar and there is no horizontal
scroll bar.
I have a strange problem - A few listviews that have item of longer
length do not get horizontal scroll bars and some which have only two
character item have horizontal scroll bar although the size of both is
same.
