loading infopath form on sharepoint

S

Sonia

I have created a form and loaded to our sharpoint site and made a link to the
form. When I click on the link the error message I get is:

InfoPath cannot open the following file: Assessment Checklist.xml. The
following form template for the form can not be found: ............

This is the first time using InfoPath so any help is greatly appreciated.

Also is there a mobile of infoPath that I can use on my smart phone and or
Tablet PC.

Thanks Sonia

Hey Sonia
When working with InfoPath forms there are 2 types of files that are
directly related the first is the .xsn file this file is a form template
file similar to words .dot file. The second is a .xml file this is the file
that actually contains the completed form data.
It sounds to me that you have uploaded the .xml file to sharepoint. this
file when opened will attempt to find the .xsn file (based on infomation
contained in the xml file) and render the infomation using this template
file. So my suggestion would be to double check which file you have loaded
to sharepoint if it's the .xml file then that may be the crux of your
problem

As for your second question, InfoPath 2007 can render via a web browser,
this enables the ability to view and fill out forms using a mobile device
however there is some configuration during design time that would need to be
taken into account.
As for tablet PC support while this functionality is supported you will get
richer functionality in the Rich client rather than the browser based
version of a form.

As a matter of interest what version of InfoPath are you using?

hope this helps

Thank you Ben
That worked. I have to work on two different networks, one with infopath
2003 and the other with 2007 and did not think that it would have problems on
the 2003 version.

How do I get that vieer you were talking about?

Thank Sonia

Hey Sonia,
Sorry I probably didn't explain it that well, if you are using InfoPath 2007
in conjuction with SharePoint 2007 you can view your InfoPath forms using
the web browser. This is achieved using a component of SharePoint called
Form Services to render the form. If you need more info on sharepoint you
can read up on it here
http://www.microsoft.com/sharepoint/default.mspx
