Loading Office 2007 on a 2nd PC

I successfully loaded Office 2007 on my laptop but when I try to load it on
my desktop, the system doesn't see the disk in the drive at all. It will not
auto start nor can I manually start the set up since the system doesn't see
it. Any suggestions?

I purchased Office 2007 separately. My laptop is running XP Pro and my
desktop is running XP Home Edition Service Pack 2, Version 2002.

JoAnn - I did not try another disk in the drive. I have two drives on my
desktop. I suppose it is possible that both failed. I will try and see if I
can get other disk to work and get back to you. Thanks for the suggestion.

JoAnn - I tried to read disks in both of the drives and they both failed. I
think you solved the problem why Office wouldn't load, but now I have a whole
new set of problems that quite frankly, I don't know how to fix. The device
manager said they were working properly. I did "uninstall" both of the
drives and Windows reinstalled them upon "restart" but neither one works. I
know this isn't your specialty but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

inserting the CD in another system to see if it's the disk?

Have you tried another CD to see if it's your drives or the disks
themselves?

JoAnn - It appears that the problem was with my disk drive. I tried loading
it using an external disk drive and it worked! Thank you so much for youor
assistance.

I am not be the guru that some of the other MVPs are but I've learned you
need to try the obvious stuff first and eliminate certain factors. In your
case I wanted to see if it was the disk or the hardware. ;-)
