Loading Visio 5 files into Visio 2002

I have several hundred drawing files which were created in Visio Technical 5.0. I have tried to load them into Visio 2002, which they do, but not correctly. For one thing, I can't edit the drawings as as I can in Visio 5.0 Do you we have to upgrade or is this just not going to be possible in any version.
