local .mpt file - can it be deleted, or do I have to keep it?

I've wondering what the file named something like
{4F52A263-6CC3-495B-91E4-BBEBCBEB834C}.mpt
in the folder like
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Microsoft\MS
Project\11\1033
does.

The problem is that this file is getting quite big (8mb), which isn't good
when users log on and off, since it has to be copied each time (with our
windows configuration).

Can anyone explain what the file does, and if there is any problem with
deleting it at each log-off?
