Local Project Cache Menu Item Missing

When we setup Project 2007 with a Project Server connection, the Local
Project Cache menu item is missing. It is not greyed out, it is just not
under the tools menu anymore. I repaired Project, but that didn't help so I
removed and reinstalled and also removed the server connection and re-added
it, but I get the same thing. I also removed user windows profile and
recreated from default and at first the menu was there, but somewhere between
configuring Office 2007 and configuring server settings in Project, the menu
item disappeared again. Please help.

You failed to mention that you are using Microsoft Project PROFESSIONAL
2007. Is that the version you are using? If you are using Microsoft
Project STANDARD 2007, you won't see a Local Project Cache menu item, among
other menu items needed for use with Project Server 2007. In addition, you
failed to mention whether only one user has this problem, or whether
everyone has the problem.

Assuming you really are using the Professional version of Microsoft Project
2007, try the following to restore the missing menu item:

1. Open Project Professional 2007 and connect to Project Server.
2. Click Tools - Customize - Toolbars.
3. Select the Commands tab.
4. Click the Built In Menus item in the Categories list on the left.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the Commands list on the right to locate the
Local Project Cache menu item.
6. Click and hold the Local Project Cache item to "grab" it, drag it to the
Tools menu, and drop it below the Substitute Resources... item.
7. Click the Close button to close the dialog.

Let us know if this helps.
