Local Resources accidentally created

Since our implementation, I have noticed that many BLANK
local resources have been created on the project files.
Some actually are assigned to tasks, but most are just
attached to the project. In some cases, I have seen over
200+ blank resources. How are my project mgrs doing this
and how can we stop them?

Lori:

It happens by the accidental entry of data in the resource sheet, such as
what happens when a users uses the fill-box handle to drag a value down the
page and unintentionally causes the screen to race ahead at warp speed.
Another cause is PMs leaving blank rows between resources to make the sheet
look nice.

In general, I don't favor allowing local resources if they can be avoided.

Go to Tools,Options General Tab and unclick Automatically add new resources
and tasks. This provides a warning to the PM when they add a resource that
is not part of the project team, but it can be overridden on a case by case
basis to allow entry of a local resource.
