Locate hidden fields in MS Project

Mary

Hi:

I am working on a MS Project file which we passed on to me. I would like to
find out whether there are any hidden fields. Can someone tell me how I can
find out?

Thank you,
Mary

Mary,
Fields in Project are not hidden and unhidden like columns in Excel.
There is a little more to it. The Project database consists of 3 parts,
Tasks, Resources, and Assignments. Each of those parts has multiple
fields. Fields are displayed as columns in a view. A view is made up of
3 parts, a screen, table (spells out which fields are displayed as
columns), and a filter. For any selected view, the view table can be
edited by going to: View/Table/More Tables and selecting a table from
the selection list. For example the default table for the Gantt View is
the Entry table. Clicking Edit will allow you to view or edit which
Project fields are displayed as columns in that particular view table.

For any given view, most of Project's fields are "hidden". A quick way
to see all fields for a particular view type is to double click on view
column heading. That will bring up the Column Definition window.
Clicking the selection arrow at the right side of the Field name
selection box will bring up all available fields.

I know that's a long answer to a simple question, but hopefully you now
have a better understanding of how to see what you want in Project.
Just for reference, you might want to check out our MVP website at:

There is a bunch of useful information for new Project users.

Hope this helps.
