"Locate recent version of Microsoft Office"

Peter Birchenall

I am trying to install Project Professional 2007 after I have installed
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007. I get to a point after it asks for my
product key, that it says it can't find a version of Microsoft Office and
wants either a CD or a location where an earlier version is. Well, the nstall
of 2007 removed all of my Office 2003 so, what is it looking for? I have
checked and opened up Word 2007, etc. and they exist.
Any suggestions?
I've tried to use the email support but if you don't have a PID, then you
can't advance. And if you can't get it installed, ni PID.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Peter,

Are you using an upgrade package of MS Office Project Professional 2007? The upgrade qualifiers are basically prior versions of MS
Office Project (v2000 or newer). If a prior Project version isn't installed you should be able to use the product CD of the prior
version to meet the upgrade qualifications requirements.

It is not an upgrade version. I have tried putting the Project 2003 disc in
but I am not sure what file that would satisfy the "browse" requirement. Just
putting the disc in and highlighting the drive letter doesn't work. Would
there be a "setup.exe" file or some other file that this is asking for?

I went ahead and re-installed my Project 2003 and then re-tried the Project
2007 installation. This seems to have satisfied the request for a recent
version. Perhaps since Project 2003 was removed by Office 2007 during its
install and not Project 2007 that there was some confusion on the software's
part. Not a smooth upgrade but at least it seems to have worked.
