I designed a nice spreadsheet/database for a customer. I want to be able to
lock the workbooks through the use of a button and macro. Each of the
sheets has locked as well as unlocked cells. I really only want a basic
level of security. The workbooks are so huge that closing excel just to
enable the password feature would add create about 2 or 3 minutes of wait
time on re-open. I want to keep the workbooks open 24/7 but with a feature
that will create a workbook event that locks all cells for editing. Could I
create a separate workbook that calls this command, password protect the new
book, and then close it and open quickly with the password. I think I am
out of luck but does anyone have any other suggestions?
