Locked for Edit ?????

I'm not sure what happened but now when I try to open a
document in Word (or Excel, Access) I get this message
when I try to make a change in the document.
"This command is not avaliable because the document is
locked for Edit." I don't know what to do to "unlock"
it. I tried holding down the CTRL, Shift, and F11 but
nothing happened. Would appreciate some help. Thank you

The document could be a protected form, in which case you can unlock it by clicking on Tools | Unprotect Document. If this happens to every document you open, then you probably have not activated your copy of Word/Office. Click on Help | Activate Product. If you are activated, you will get a pop-up message that says so; if you are not activated, the Activation Wizard will start.
