Every time I try to start up my Microsoft Word, I attempt
to type and it will not allow me to do so. The message
at the bottom of the screen is: "The modification is not
allowed because the document is locked." It also is not
allowing me to open a new document from the File menu.
Could you please tell me how to fix this problem? Thank
you very much.

Have you activated the product (word 2002 or 2003)? If not, which version of
Word and OS are you using?
