Locking fields in word, clarification required.

Hi all,

This one is a strange one, I am techy for a college, and a syllabus exists
for advanced word tasks, one of the tasks that's producing what my customer
considers to be undesirable results is simply the locking and unlocking of
fields in word.

My understanding from the paragraph in the help file is the lock function,
prevents the computer updating, automatically updated fields such as the
date and time etc...

My customers expectation is by locking the field so the user can longer type
into the field in essence becomes read only.

Can someone settle this for me.

Regards,

OZ.

It not really a form as such, as i understand my customer thinks by pressing
ctrl + f11 field is supposed to be untouchable on a unprotected document.

well, there is "help" on making forms
inside word, so it's hard to understand why
they have a question.

in combination
with tables, some cells can have
form fields where data can be entered while
other cells are not fields but can have
text in them that is locked when the form
is protected.

it takes practice and the methodology
that word uses for forms is slightly
different than acrobat forms. But the
affect is the same.

unfortunately, microsoft provides a great
deal of help on this. if the college students
are having difficulties, then form creation
may be way out of their realm of comprehension.
