Is there a way to lock or protect certain rows or columns withou
protecting the whole sheet? Thanks for any help in advance!

Rocks,

You can unprotect all the other cells (Format - Cells - Protection -
Locked), then protect the workbook (Tools - Protection - Protect worksheet.
With Excel 2002 (and maybe 2000, but not XL 97), you have additional choices
as to what the user can and can't do).

Yes.
Before you protect your sheet, you must first determine what cells you want
unlocked.
To unlock a cell Right-click the cell, then select Format Cells. Go to the
Protection tab and uncheck "Locked". Then go and set your protection.
