Login Error

I set up Project Server 2003, on Windows 2003 and all seemed fine

I went into the Project Web Access interface and after logging on a
"Administrator", set up some additional users, using domain accounts

I attempted to log on using the new users (remotely) and had no problem.

Then I fired up Project Professional 2003 and connected via the Enterprise
Options facility - again no problem.

When I tried to log back onto the PWA, it will not accept any logon but
"Administrator". I checked it on the server itself, and all seems fine, but
it still won't let me log on

The error message is : You have entered an incorrect user name/password
combination (5002)

Any help ?

TIA

If you want to log into PWA with Windows user account authentication, you
need to use a URL in the following form:

http://servername/projectserver

When you enter a URL in the above form, the system will log you in
automatically using your Windows user account. Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your reply

I am still in sort of a quandary about all this..

Let me restate what happened and how I "resolved" it

1. After installing PS, I went to PWA, signed in as Administrator and added
a few users using their domain accounts (domain\username) - no problem
2. Logged on to PWA using a domain account - no problem
3. Now I installed project 2003, and went to Tool --> Enterprise Options and
try to connect to my server - it would not - telling me I was not authorized
to access this server (The server was set to "Integrated authentication")
4. I removed all authentication - making the web site :anonymous" - now I
could connect from Project Server, but I could no longer access PWA as I
would get the "web page" log on dialog box, as opposed to the Windows
authentication dialog box - and typing in my domain\username would elicit a
"you have entered an invalid username and password ..."

The way I resolved this was:
- allow Integrated authentication on the web site and then - create a
Project Server ID and log in to the Web page dialog using that
- When I did, it then prompted me for the Windows Authentication dialog box,
which I completed and was allowed access.

Obviously, I missed something along the way - it should be this painful to
log on

Can you help ?

Thanks again

When you created the user accounts in PWA, did you add them to appropriate
security Groups? For example, did you add yourself to the Administrators
group?

Yes - everybody on the list (so far) is an Administrator in Project Server
and a local admin (We are in evaluation mode)

Thanks

Check your settings in the Internet Explorer as follows:

1. Click Tools - Internet Options
2. Click the Security tab
3. Select the Trusted Sites icon and click the Custom Level button
4. In the User Authentication section, make sure the "Automatic logon only
in Intranet zone" is selected
5. Click OK and then click OK again
6. Close and relaunch the Internet Explorer

Hope this helps.
