Login Errors after applying Service Pack 2a

We have a Project Server 2003 Standard install on a server and the SQL
DB (2005) is on another server.
We could logon to the server using Project or Windows details. But we
have now applied the 2a Service pack and can nolonger login with either
method thru the PWA.

We didn't apply Service Pack 1 or 2 because we were told that 2a
Contains everything from the perivous 2.

Can't even login with the Admin account for Porject now.

this is teh message we get with Windows auth
"An internal server error has occurred and Project cannot log you on at
this time. Please try again later. (5004)"

Have also looked in event log but doesn't appear to be anythign to help
with this problem.
