Login Problems

Hi:

I have Project Server set up for authentication of users use windows
accounts.

All user can logon without problems execpt for two users. Those, since some
days ago, are prompt for windows authentication each time they try enter PWA
or navigate through it.

The strange thing is that I`ve created another web site in the same server
where PS is and those user can connect OK to it. If those user do logon on
windows in another computers different from their use to evereything works ok.

Some ideas on what could be happening?

Thanks in advance.

Alo:

Similar behaviors have been reported due to antivirus software, particularly
McAffee 8.x. With that said this behavior can be cause by the authentication
option in Browser security set to prompt rather than use current
credentials. Look at both possibilities.

My answer assumes that the userid is set up on the server and that they are
using Windows authentication.

Here are my two answers. First, we had one user this happened to and the
issue was that their activeX controls was "disabled" in their IE settings.
We aren't positive why that kept him from logging on but once we changed
that, we had no problems anymore.

The second user had this issue because in her passwords was a "cached
password" that she had to delete. This was found here: Start > Settings >
Control Panel > User Accounts > Advanced tab > Manage Passwords > what's
listed there? Probably only their IM/Messenger or MIcrosoft Passport password
should be there. Our user had a manually adjusted password in there which
was keeping her from logging on.

Hi again:

I checked the IE configuration options and all seems to be ok. I also
disactivated the antivirus as Gary suggested but it doesn´t work.

The user is domain user over W2000, so when the user and password is prompt
i check "remember my user and password" so it doesn´t seem to be a problem
with "cached password".

Here are some more data and another things I tried:

- all the user are domain user, and only those two are having problems
- I change one user to PS authentication and he`s still prompt for user and
password
- I reinstalled the activeX controls and the problem didn`t dissapeared
- I reviewed the configuration of IIS and it`s OK

Any more ideas??? (I`m really lost) Thanks for your help!

OK, stretching it a bit here, are the users' permission setup in the SQL
database (this sort of assumes that the database is on a different server
than PS)?

The database is on a different server than PS, but I think that the
connection with database from PWA is stablished by the MSProjects users that
are created in the installation process (MSProjectServerUser or
MSProjectUser). I have no other users in the database rather than Project
users.

More data:
- if the users with problems make logon in other computers everything works
ok
- if other users make logon on that users computers everything works ok

Perhaps is a problem with the W2000 authentication protocol??? I will try
to look for the tickets that kerberos is generating on that users computers
for this users and for others users.

Thanks for your help and please tell about more ideas on what could be
happening.
