login screen email status

I switched from Outlook express to Outlook XP (2002) and
like all the changes in Outlook except I'm now missing
one of my favorite features: With express the windows xp
login screen would show if I had any new email messages
(and how many). this feature apparently is not available
with outlook. Anyway to make this work again?

Not natively but you can use a third party tool like Outlook Mail Counter;
