Logon Request

OK got a strange one for you guys...

Started Tuesday. One user (so far) Keeps getting asked for a password when
they open Outlook. Even though they have already logged on to the Network.
And entering their password we are told that the logon info is not correct.
I also noticed that the PST file was stored in C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT rather then under the usual Documents and
Settings.

So I try my own logon but it won't let me change to the correct Exchange
2000 server. I moved my mailbox a little while ago and the profile (on sick
machine) was still pointing to the old exchange server. I enter the name for
the new server and Check It, things get under lined, but when I open
Outlook it is back to the old server.

Well It is an XP machine running Office 97 (need it for an old app) so my
first guess is that some update has broken it. I install a copy of Outlook
2k and get the same thing. I delete the users Profile and create a new one,
no change. Oh I also noted that I was NOT asked for the Office CD which is
what normally happens when a New Profile tries to open any Office app. for
the first time.

Well maybe still a broken update thing so I grab another machine (Win2k &
Office 2k) and get the same thing. Box pops up wanting Name/Domain/Pwd, but
doesn't like the supplied password (which I had changed to be sure we got
the right one).

So try yet another machine, XP with Office 2000, same thing wants logon info
that it then rejects.

So any ideas what is happening?

Can this user log in through owa? In ADUC, security tab of the user,
advanced, is the account inheriting permissions? Though you don't
normally need to; try explicitly granting the user himself full
mailbox access.
