I have created several Excel files ranging between 2Mb & 4Mb i
filesize.
Why does Windows Explorer treat xls files differently from every othe
file type, in that when I single click on one of those xls files, o
right click on one of them, it seems to take forever (up to over
minute) before I can do anything else.
For instance, I want to make a backup copy of one of my xls files, so
go to the folder using Windows Explorer, then I right click on an xl
file, I then have to wait for up to a minute or so, before the dro
down list appears, then I can choose "Copy", and the drop down bo
takes up to a minute before it is displayed, then I can choose Copy
Then when I paste, it takes a further minute or 2 before that ha
actually completed as well.
I have other files on my my PC which are way bigger in size to these
some several hundred Mb in size, and right clicking on these fo
example are instant. Even copying and pasting these files are wa
quicker than those xls files.
It's as if every time an xls file is clicked on, it's reading th
contents (including all formulas) into memory, or something.
It's plainly rediculous.
Copying xls files across the network to another PC just doesn't seem t
work at all. The switch lights constantly flicker, but nothing happens
causing me to have to reboot.
I have absolutely no problem with any other type of files.
Does anyone know why ?
Is there a way to stop this unnecessary delay
