Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Hello,

When I try to save my Excel worksheet files somewhere on the HD, Excel comes back with an error message saying "The file path you entered is too long". I do not want Excel to tell where to save my files! Anybody can help?

Thanks!

Excel is most likely telling you nothing of the sort -- OS X is.

Make sure you have Office & OS X fully updated then run Disk Utility -
Repair Disk Permissions. If you continue to have a problem you'll need to be
more explicit as to exactly how many folders deep the path goes, what type
of & how many characters are included in the file & folder names, whether
you're saving to the primary HD or some other location, as well as any
additional details you can supply.

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback.

MS Office and OS X are up to date.
I ran the Repair Disk Permissions from the the Disk Utility; the problem persists.

Number of folders deep (from home directory): 12
Number of characters: 236 characters (with spaces in some folder names)

Excel Detailed Message:
"The file path you entered is too long. The file path cannot exceed 255 characters. Enter a shorter file name or select a shorter file path, and then try saving the file again"

Thanks!
Ali
