long pause before lookin will go to different directory

puzzled

when I want to open a different directory to find a file, there is a pause of
about 10 seconds?

Any solution to end this pause

Are you using the drop down list in the Open dialog box? If so then
you may have a mapped drive that is unavailable which will cause a
delay.
