Long story short, I'm having problems setting up a POP account on Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac.

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I have a university email through GoogleApps. I followed the directions for setting up entourage 04 (here is the link: <http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13286)> when I was trying to set up the account for 08 because there wasn't any set of directions for entourage 08 provided by google. I plugged everything in as directed, as far as the incoming/outgoing servers goes. I have a university account through googleapps that I'm trying to set up. So after I set everything up, I went to send/receive all mail and I received several error messages. The first said an unknown error has occurred and the account that was created could not be found. the next one said "mail could not be received at this time.....The server for the account [my account] returned the error "[AUTH] Username and password not accepted.." " The final error message said mail could not be sent at this time and then gave me a link to this page: <http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14257> .

Below is what I was directed to do to help solve the problem I was having:

If you're using a Google Apps email address, please instead follow the steps below:

1. Open your web browser and sign in to Google Apps at <http://mail.google.com/mail/a/[yourdomain]>. If you see a word verification request, type the letters in the distorted picture and finish signing in.
2. Close your browser and try accessing your messages in your email client again.
3. Disable all mail clients you're using to read mail. (If you use one at work and one at home, please disable both.)
4. From the computer on which your logins are failing, visit <https://www.google.com/a/[your> domain].com/UnlockCaptcha.
5. Be sure to fill in your domain name in the URL.
6. Enter your email username and password, and the letters in the distorted picture.
7. Once you have successfully logged in, restart your mail client and try to download your mail.

I went through steps 1 and 2, which did not work. So i shut down entourage and attempted step 4. I typed in <https://www.google.com/a/[I> put my school's domain in here]/UnlockCaptcha. Once I got to that page, it had me type in my school email username and password. simple enough, right? i entered it about 5 times, correct every single time, and made sure I typed in the distored picture correctly as well, and each time it told me my username and password didn't match. to see if i was doing something very stupid everytime i entered my username/password there, i decided to actually log into my googleapps account from the internet. i copied and pasted my username from the page that kept telling me my username and password didnt match and then i very meticulously typed in my password, and it logged me in. so i'm not sure why when i went to "https://www.google.com/a/[I <https://www.google.com/a/[I> put my school's domain in here]/UnlockCaptcha" that it kept telling me my username and password were incorrect.

Can anyone help me in any way? All i want is to be able to use entourage to check my email.
