Most people recommend the "Excel for Dummies" for a complete beginner....

(I own several of those yellow books myself.)

Funnily enough, although I'm (or used to be in the real world) an advanced
Excel user I never had any!

I figure if I can learn one or two things from each book, it's a valuable
investment. At my desk right now is Excel Charts for Dummies. I picked up a
few ideas from it that made it woth it's price. (I also have Excel 2000
Formulas by John Walkenbach, Access 2003 Step by Step and Visio 2003 Step by
Step. My other books are at home and occasionally make it into the office if
needed.)
