Looking for an easy to use program to catalogue articles

Working in the medical field I have gathered a large number of articles, in
various formats( MSWord, PDF,HTML ) and wish to access them efficiently.I am
looking for a program( not too costly) which would allow me to easily
catalogue these articles on an ongoing basis, for future reference. At the
moment they are simply stored on my hard drive.
I have tried using Word and its hyperlink function but it just isnt working
for me.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

One more question: how do you stop the security message from popping up in
Word every time you try opening a hyperlink?

Consider OneNote from Microsoft.

Or, use Contacts (name as subject?) and attach the documents, and Category
as a subset reference.

You could mount the documents on some personal Web space (your local ISP)
and incorporate the Google search engine utility (will customize on your site
for your content) on the site. This would give you public access to the docs
on the road, too.
