That's a good link to Powertoys in general but it doesn't answer the OP's
question.

I don't know of a link to the AnalogReality powertoy any more.

AnalogReality stop the distrobution of his powertoy, and you cannot find it
online (legaly) anymore. You may check peer2peer networks but I doubt you'll
even find it there. Sadly it was the greatist send to onenote powertoy, and
now he has stopped it. You were lucky if you got it when it was available.

nope... but AnalogReality as far as I know, emailed someone, when they had
it on their site, to take it down for copyright infringment or something. So
for whatever reason he doesnt want it available, it must be a good reason...
I wouldn't be too surprised if he started to work for another software
company, and can't publish software on his own? IMO that would suck. But who
knows... I'm just starting rumors ;-)

Yes I'm aware of that. Someone tried compiling a website of OneNote
Powertoys and somehow got hold of the AnalogReality one and posted it
complete with download link. He was asked to remove it.

I just can't find a reference to why all traces of this useful Powertoy have
been obliterated from the web.

I am sure someone has a copy they could send me. Please help me out
with this. I have never used any of the peer2peer bit torrent
applications, so I would not know how to look there.

Is the ability to print into OneNote addressed in OneNote 12?

I'm going to assume that it will be. I dont remember on the features list.
But I think there is a MS Powertoy that will print to onenote... but I don't
know if it's for tablet pc's only or not... I think it may be (that was
stupid, if it is).

I had posted it on http://www.onenotepowertoys.com (formerly
adminid.com/onenote) and got an email from Darron to remove it, but no
replies. At least he is alive!

The Eductation Pack from MS has a similar toy called "Send to OneNote",
but it ONLY works on Tablet PCs. I've ask MS about this and gotten an
informal response that the Tablet Team developed it and is not willing
to modify it for regular XP. I've tried to hack it and this is what I
found... (which violates the EULA license, of course)

- run "msiexec -a EducationPack.msi" and to create an install package
on a network drive.
- - - This unpacks all the installation files. Has to be a network
drive. Very slow.

- You can now install the Send To OneNote PowerToy on Windows XP
without the initial "requires Tablet 2005" detection.

- It still does NOT work. The Shortcut on a Tablet PC launches
"DetectLicense.exe 5", not the SendToOneNote.exe.
- - - I haven't figured a way around this.

I am unclear about how these things work, so please excuse my
ignorance. If I managed to obtain this powertoy after Darron has
removed it, am I prohibited from using it legally? I understand
objections to having it on a site for download (illegal to distribute),
however I don't understand why now that I have obtained it (and I
have), I cannot use it. If this is true, does Darron have an email
address that I can write and ask his permission?

I do not have a Tablet PC, so this tool is my only option. However I
will not use it if it is considered illegal for me to use do so.

That is not my understanding of the law : IMHO ( & note that IANAL) it is
copying the software, not specifically distributing it that constitutes the
infringement.

If the software has been copied onto a machine (in order to use it) without the
permission of the copyright holder then that is a copyright infringement just as
much as copying it onto a disk (or server) in order to distribute it.

I'm no lawyer, Mike. I was only offering a suggestion. I don't know where
the software was obtained, nor do I really care if someone has possession of
it or not for their own use. Distributing software without the creator's
permission is not legal.

Either way, if you have it, use it.. it's not the using it part. It's who
gave it to you that would be in trouble.
I would have to read the license agreement on the program before giving a
good understanding. But even that, if you didnt read that agreement for
example... You get a CD that on the envelope is a sticker that states "Once
you break this sticker you agree to all terms in our EULA in EULA.txt
enclosed on this CD", this clearly is not a legally binding contract, and
whatever is on that EULA you are not required to follow. This would go the
same, you've downloaded a peice of software (his eula is not available
online anymore so you can't prove that it is ilegal) and if you never
installed it you wouldn't had the chance to read it. So in my opinion, he
has no recorse of who distributes his software. but it would be an expensive
lawsuit for both sides if he feels that this is his right.
It is considered public domain now, I presume.
