Looking for Information

Hi I am a retired Senior and love taking pictures of family, nature and
anything of interest. I also am taking a online course on POWERPOINT 2002XP.
I am thinking that this might be a good place to download my pictures to and
make a presentation that I could burn to a disc and then we could watch it
through our DVD player on our TV.
what I want to know is ,Is this practical, is this possible, can it be
done, and most of all:How do I go about doing this ?
I would appreciate any help or information that I can get on this matter

IMHO - It's possible.... but there may be better software for the job.

The tricky bit is converting the powerpoint to dvd.

Here's the 'principle' of how to convert to dvd

playing it directly from a laptop with a 'tv-out' is easy!

What TAJ said and...

One nice easy-to-use and free piece of software is Photostory 3. It is a
Windows product that you can download from Microsoft (you stumbled into
the Mac group, but you said you use PowerPoint XP, so I assume you are a
Windows person). This can easily put your photos together with or without
special effects and a soundtrack and convert them to a video format.
