Loosing hyperlink base when inserting a doc file into another

John Henry

I have a doc file with hyperlinks in pathname format (such as
c:\dir1\abc\d...). When I do an "Insert -> File" of that document into
another document, all of the hyperlinks becomes a simple filename link
(loosing the path portion). This causes a big headache for me. Setting the
generic base address from the file property is not a solution because the
links all have a different base...

Is there anyway to get around this?

Thanks,

Hi John,

What version of Word and have you turned off the
setting to update links in Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options?

Do you have any Hyperlink base value set in Properties before
or after inserting documents?
