Lose data w/ XP Pro over 2000SBE???

L

Lab Man

I have Office 2000SBE installed. I want to install Office XP Pro (mainly for
Access and Power Point). My PC is too old for 2003 Pro. Will I lose my saved
emails, calender notifications, or have any other unpleasant surprises? This
copy of XP was never registered. Will I still be able to get all of the
service releases, patches, updates, etc.? Thanks for any help :)

Before installing any software, always back up your system. Having said
that, under normal circumstances, Office never removes documents and files
(.pst files specifically) created with previous versions.

As for the activation and ability to get updates, you would know better than
us since you have the CDs to review and we don't.

I predict you will lose everything. If you simply buy an Office
upgrade, it will toss everything you have, everything. You must start
over from scratch. You will lose all customization settings, macros, all
of it. Just Bill Gates at normal work on an upgrade.

Just imagine what happens when you change OS (went thru that recently
from Win3K to XP). Good luck.
