Loss of "RESENT DOCUMENTS" when opening Office 2007

If you open Office 2007, Excell or Word there are no list displayed of
"Resent Documents" even though a file was opened during the last session.
During the last session I set the "thumb tack" to retain the file.

Any help would be appreciated......
