lossing email

I saw my new emails coming into my inbox. It says 10 but I received only 5
including 3 junk emails. I couldn't find the other 5 anywhere even the junk
mail folder. I went back to my server Verizon but the inbox was empty.
Microsoft Outlook has retrived all the emails. Verizon told me that it is
not their problem. It is Microsoft's problem. Please advise how can I fix
the problem.

Check your rules defined in the unidentified version of Outlook. See if
any will permanently delete your e-mails.

Check which view you are using on each folder. Maybe you have it
configured to hide messages that have already been read or some other
customization that will hide some items.

I checked the rules and view and they are all default setting. I haven't had
this problem until few days ago and I never changed the setting before.

There are no default rules. Do you have any rules defined?

Did you check the Deleted Items folder?

"It says 10"
What said "10"? Was that the mail count on the Welcome Screen (before
you login)?

Your mail box was emtpy because all messages got retrieved into Outlook.
The default behavior or POP accounts is to retrieve the messages from
the server and then delete them from the server. That's why they were
gone from the server.
