Lost a project

Bare with me... I'm very new with project... still using the trial in fact.

So here's my first issue. I created a project and Saved it to Project
Server. From what I've read on this board, after closing Project, it should
background publish and be visable in PWA.... well it didn't, so I went to try
to re-open it from Project and the following error:

The project that you selected belongs to a different project server

No matter what I do, I connot locate or open the project I created. Any
help is much appreciated.

Hi Bdavis,

can you let me know which version of Project Server you are using. Also can
you write down in detail how you try to open the Project agains. ( From
starting MS Project Professional until you get the error message)
thanks

Yes... sorry,

2007-- both project pro and server.

Since the project is not visable on the server anywher, Open Project 2007,
click on FILE and go down to the recent project (the area at the bottom of
the file menu where it lists the last 4 project I opened). When I click on
my missing project, I get there error.

What version of Project Server are you using? 2002, 2003, or 2007? Let us
know.

Thanks Bdavis,

when you click on the open icon and double click "retrieve projects from
project server", can you see the project you have lost? and if so can you
open it?
Thanks

Ah-ha! Didn't know that was there. That worked. Thanks Marc. So let me
ask though, will this Project never appear in PWA if I don't publish it?

Your problem sounds like your organization might have multiple Project
Server instances running. You saved a project in one Project Server system
and then tried to open it while logged into the other system. Try these
steps:

1. Launch Project Professional 2007.
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft Office Project Server
Accounts.
3. Select the "Manually control connection state" option and click OK.
4. Exit Project Professional and then relaunch the software.

In the the Login dialog, click the Profile pick list and notice how many
Profiles are listed, other than the Computer profile. Anything other than
the Computer profile is a Project Server instance. If you see multiple
Project Server profiles, select one of them and then click the OK button.
Click File - Open and then double-click the "Retrieve the list of all
projects from Project Server" item at the top of the list of projects. This
shows you all projects to which you have access in the selected Project
Server instance. Is your project there? If not, click the Cancel button
and exit Project Professional. Relaunch the software again, select a
different Profile from the list (not the Computer profile) and click the OK
button. Repeat the File - Open steps until you find your project.

By the way, I have had this happen to me personally, since we have multiple
Project Server instances. Hope this helps.

My project(s) show up in project center within Project on the desktop, but do
not appear in Project Center in PWA. I have all the rights available, same
as full admin. Why can I not see any projects in PWA from Project Center?
