Lost ability to manage workspace!

P

Paul Urfi

We were using a trial version of Groove which was set to expire 7/9/2006.
When we went to purchase our licenses we found out that they were no longer
available because MS had purchased Groove. We then went to the MS Office
beta site and upgraded our PC's to the Office 2007 beta along with Groove.
Everything seems to work OK, but I notice that no one is Manager now; we're
all just Participants. Has anyone run into this? I can't seem to find a way
to administer the workspace now. If it was a new workspace I would just make
a new one, but the workspace in question has a ton of info, files, data, etc
in it.

Thanks for any help,

Paul

Hi,

Groove 3.1 license is still availible, you can send request to
(e-mail address removed) for puchasing.

It seems you have encounter a beta problem. You can archieve the workspace,
and then restore it. After doing that, you should become the manager of this
workspace, however, other workspace members should be re-invite in and
re-download the workspace.

Thanks Mason. A couple questions:

- How long will the beta version we're using be good for? Should we
continue using the beta and get licenses when its out of beta or go with 3.1?

- If we go with 3.1 will we have to reinstall Groove completely?

Thanks,

Paul

Groove 2007 will be able to be used until about Feb 2007 I believe. The
issue of going back to 3.1 maybe some of the workspaces are not backward
compatible.

Thanks for the advice Marc. Do you know what will happen after Feb 2007?
Will there be an official release that we would be able to license at that
time? Aside from the problem with one workspace mentioned earlier,
everything is running great. I'd hate to create more problems by trying to
solve one.

I understand that the product will be release as a full product in Feb 2007

One last question: will Groove be released as a stand-alone product or will
it require / be a part of Office 2007?

Thanks,

Paul

I believe it will be released as a stand alone and it will be $79 pa to use
with the hosting service. I could be wrong on this but there is another
posting in the discussion group about this. I couldn't locate the article.
At that price thought it will be great for small businesses to use as a
communications tool with their clients.
