Lost admin rights - Project Server 2003

I recently had an admin for our project server do something while uploading a
regular project standalone file into the server using the Enterprise Options
Import Project to Enterprise feature of Project which has resulted in the
loss of "Manage Users" option on admin page. He must have done something on
the Project Web Access interface as well I assume, but he seems unaware of
what he did. I imagine he must have just started clicking on something he
had no idea about. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this problem?
Whatever he did it has affected the entire Administrators group, because the
Manage Users function is missing from all other admin users that logon as
well. Thanks for your help.

Michael:

Try login on using the built-in administrator account, which is immune to
changes in the security configuration. Once you logon, go to Manage Users
and Groups and use the Administrator template to reset the permissions in
the group and then do the same for the category. That should fix the problem
if someone fat fingered security.

Gary,

Thanks for your reply. I thought the builtin Administrator would be
unchangeable as well. But this appears to not be the case. I've since
talked with an MS representative who was also suprised by this. Although
they were logged onto the server via LiveMeeting so it was kinda hard to
contest what was occurring. I'm in the process right now of uploading the
Project Server SQL database so they can look through it. If I find out
anything interesting or illuminating I'll be sure to post it back to here.

Gary,

You can check the users and their password from SQL database, to do so:
1. Open Enterprise Manager
2. Under the Project Server database expand the tree to see Tables .
3. On the right side, find the MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table.
4. Right-click MSP_WEB_RESOURCES and select Open Table > Return all rows.
5. Accounts should be in the WRES_ID column And the administratot account
WRES_ID would be 1.
6. Account passwords will be svaed in the WRES_PASSWORD column.
uses these 2 columns to find your problem. If the admin password is
corrupted you can always delete the password value from the WRES_PASSWORD
column. tgus making a blank password.

Let me know if this helps :)

Mike:

Can you get to Server Configuration from the Admin menu? If so, did someone
maybe uncheck the Manage users and groups feature at the server level or set
it to deny?
