Lost document

Help! My computer has lost a document. This morning I finished a paper and
even though Word automatically saves documents as you work on them, I still
manually saved it - but it has disappeared. I can't find it or even the
version I saved last night after I finished working on it. I can't even find
it on the computer using the search function. I have a similiar version of
the doc - but it is two days old and does not have all the changes I made.
Plese help!!!

What appears when you click File, and the recently opened file name?
Where did you save the file to? Local Hard drive?, Server? Thumbdrive?
