Lost font

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Followed thread about lost Arial font and did not work for me. I downloaded some dingbat fonts and installed them. The Font Book shows the new fonts, but not the Word Fonts pull down or the Formatting Pallette. The fonts which do show up, are characters in the Pallette with the actual name showing in the top Name: box. Arial no longer shows up either.

I removed the documents suggested, ran the Utility to Repair, shut down Mac, waited 20 seconds and restarted. Still no Arial or a couple of the dingbats I downloaded.

When I run Font Book, Resolve Dups. is shaded and not available. I was able to do some Resolve Dups. yesterday, but not today. Some of the fonts do show up in Library, I think, and are Windows fonts. A couple of them work, but not all.

Thank you, Lynne

Hi Lynne:

Well, you're on the right track -- you're quite correct, it's the font cache
that has gone bad.

Delete the following file:

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Office Font Cache (12)

Empty the trash, then do another shut down, power off, and restart.

That should bring it right.

If it doesn't come back here and tell us what happened before doing anything
else.

Cheers
