lost frontpage 98 files

Help! I have a published web site written in FrontPage 98. During an upgrade to a new computer, I lost FrontPage and all our web site files. I re-installed FrontPage, but I do not want to re-create my web site. How can I download my web site files (as is) so I can make changes and re-publish. My web hosting is still active, but the company can't help me because they do not support FrontPage, of course.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the remote site is hosted on a server with the FP extensions, then you
would open the remote site via FP (File Menu | Open Web) command and then
publish it back to your local machine.

Now if you have upgrade to Windows XP Home, you will have a problem using
FP98, since Windows XP Home doesn't support a web server, and FP98 was
design to work with a web server.

I did a file import, but when I open it, there are no pages (navigation), only files. How do I get all my pages to show up in the navigation order they were originally in? I am not a novice, but I am not an expert, I know how to create the website, but when it comes to publishing, etc..., I get confused, so this might be kind of elementary.

Thanks alot for your help!

You can't use Import. The site must be on a server that has the FP
extensions, and you must be able to open the site directly in FP via File
Menu | Open Web and then you would use File Menu | Publish Web to get a copy
back on your local machine.

If the site is on a server that doesn't have the extensions, you need to
open the site with a FTP application, then download the site to a folder on
your HD, then open the folder in FP, then publish it to the correct
location, then you will have to re-apply any themes, shared borders and
re-build your navigation structure.
