Lost my alt macro

T

Terri

I made a macro to use in a document, and I used Alt-G as
the key to invoke it. By doing that, I apparently lost
the Alt-G command in the spell checker. Now when I want
to "ignore all" while spell checking, and hit Alt-G,
nothing happens.

I found a place where I could restore macros in
the "normal" doc, but it appeared to me that if I did
that, I would lose four macros that I really want to keep,
and don't want to have to reproduce.

Is there any way to get the spell-checker's alt-G command
back without losing everything else? The new macro I
created is not on the list of macros when I look at
the "normal" doc list of macros (I presume because I told
it to save it only in the document I was working on at the
time).

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried deleting the current keyboard shortcut for your macro
and creating a different one?

If you saved your macro in the document you were working on, then I would
have thought that the shortcut key assignment would have been saved there,
too, but possibly not. You could reopen the document in which you created
the macro and unassign the shortcut, but if you don't have that document or
can't conveniently open it, here's another way:

1. In Tools | Customize, click on Keyboard...

2. For any command (it doesn't matter which) press Alt+G. Note the exact
name of the command that is currently assigned to that shortcut. That will
be the name of your macro.

3. Close Customize and go to Tools | Macro | Macros. Either record or write
a new macro with the exact same name. It doesn't have to do anything--just
Spacebar will suffice.

4. Now open Customize: Keyboard again and unassign the shortcut.

5. Return to Macros and delete the macro you just created.
