Lost my folder pane

P

Paul

I'm new to Frontpage and somehow hit a key(s) that lost my folder list view.
Under 'view' the 'folders' listing is greyed out and I can't get it back.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled and still no luck.
Just to be sure I'm explainging myself, when I open up a page I've made, to
the left is usually the list of files of that web. That's what is no longer
there.
Please help.
TIA
Paul

I believe you need to hit the Toggle Button on the menu. It is the 6th button from the left

Thanks Scott but that's another problem I didn't mention....it's greyed out
also!
Boy, wish I knew what I did (if anything) to remove this.

It sounds like you only have a page open, not the web site.

Try opening the site in FrontPage instead of just one page, from the File >
Open Site command, not File > Open...

Scott, thanks for trying,
John, thanks also but that does nothing either. I can tell you it was fine
when I first opened the page and must have hit some keys or clicked
something (have no idea) when I went to move my keyboard and that's when it
happened.
If I do an uninstall and then clean the reg, when I reinstall, shouldn't
that do it?
thanks again for trying.

Paul,

Which view are you currently in? Folder List will be grayed out unless
you're in Page View. Do you see the Views Bar on the left? If you click
View, is the "View Bar" checked? If it's not, check it and then click on
Folders in the Views bar on the left.

Thaniks for the reply David.
I am in page view, the only view that is not greyed out. There is nothing
on the left to choose but was there until I obviously did something to
change that unknowingly.
I'm going to uninstall and do a reg removal as well and hopefully, when I
reinstall, all will be joy.
Thanks

I've completely uninstalled and scrubbed the reg and reinstalled and still
not joy. I have a screen shot I can send you to look at if it helps but I am
not able to post it to this newsgroup....it won't allow me.
I appreciate your help.

Hi Paul,

I saw your screen shot. It showed some plaques.

Vicki,
I was having so much trouble with my news poster I didn't know anything was
sent.
Please look at the capture again and you will see under the 'view' that I
have no other choices...they are all greyed out so I can't get to my folders
list. Also, to the left of my web page, you can see there is not folder list
or anything that would allow me to upon up a task list etc. which was there
when I installed FrontPage months ago and until Monday when I did something
that removed this option.
I'm about to give up since I've spent 2 days on this and must move on but if
you have an idea, please let me know.
Thanks for your help.

Paul...I'm using an older version of Front Page, so can't help much. But,
have you tried going back to restore your system to a date before you think
you hit the bad key? May not help, but it's another option.

BTW, are you using the Microsoft server to post? Because of the recent
virus invasion, they are now limiting posts to 100kb, but yours came in okay
at 70kbs.

Vicki, thanks for getting back. For some reason, my office system doesn't
seem to restore that portion. So, I'll just get by.
Yes, I found out about the 100kb limit which is why some of my posts are
duplicated...I got errors and didn't know my post went thru.

Thanks
Paul

Appears you have a page Open, not a FP web Open
Start w/ File Open Web and browse to the web folder (not a page)

Paul, I have frontpage 2003 and have the same problem. It started today. I preformed the same functions (uninstall, etc.) you did wth no results either. I even did a detect and Repair.... no help. Did you ever find a solution? It happens no matter what web site I am working on.

Paul, here is an update of problem. I noticed that in my 'open file' window almost all my old sites (created in FP2002) no longer had the folder with the little world on them them. They were no longer associated with FP and so when i opened them FP only opened the page, not the whole web. I reinstalled my FP2002, but the same thing happened. It didn't do that before. I could open any website and it would open the whole site with the files. Now the files are not listed and the page opens in the web that that was already open. I am at my wits end. I have discovered that in order to open the whole web I have to Import it as a new web. Can anyone tell me what caused this?

Have you tried opening the Sites in FP 2003 - not just pages in them
File Open Site and browse to the folder containing your local site
File Import will remove all web parameters (nav, themes etc)
