Hello

I ordered a new dell notebook with office 2007 basic installed about 2
months ago. Person using it comes in today saying that he lost or thru away
all the CDs that came with the system including office 2007. He didnt
activate it. Called dell and they will send replacements for their cds but
not office. Is there anything I can do besides buy a new version? Will
microsoft help me if I call them?

The Office cd was supplied by Dell, allthough it may have been a trial
edition that you purchased a key on line
If you purchased key online call MS and have your proof of purchase, if a
fully functioning version supplied by Dell, call Dell again, its their
resonsibility.
Oh, and charge the negligent person accordingly for any costs incurred

Thanks

It was a full office 2007 basic CD. Here is wha dell said:

Agent (RTS Shumeka B): "You will need the product key off the cd package but
I can not replace it you can try to contact microsoft or you will have to
repurchase the software."

Typical bull***t
If its an OEM version, and Help>About in eg Word will say, then its Dell's
responsibility
