"Lost" password

I just finished restoring my laptop and when setting up Outlook 2007 I set a
password for the personal folders. I must have made a typing error (twice)
because now Outlook says I have entered an incorrect password when I try to
access my email. Uninstalling and re-installing Office / Outlook doesn’t
help as it seems this does not delete the profile. Even with a new
installation of Office it still asks for the password.
Is there a folder or file that I should be deleting in order to start over
again with a clean Outlook installation? Or is a password recovery tool the
only way to go (short of running system restore again).

I am using Vista 32 bit and Office / Outlook Professional 2007.

If the .pst file is new, there won't be anything inside of it that you need.
So just delete it. Outlook will complain that it cannot find the file.
Just have it create a new one.
