Lost Product Key Word 2000

I got a new computer with GENUINE Windows 7 OS installed. I want to keep my
Word 2000, which I like and am used to. I have the CD needed to install it,
but I lost the product key. How can I install it on my new computer?

Hi Peter:

If you have the CD, you have the product key. It's on the orange sticker on
the back of the sleeve.

If you don't have the product key, you can't install the product.

I like Word 2000 too, but I don't think Windows 7 will allow it to run: so
it may be time to go up to the next version. I would wait for Office 2010
if I were you. In the meantime, put in OpenOffice: it's very
"Word-2000-like" :)

Cheers

Hi John,

Office 2000 does indeed run on Win7, with the same Outlook caveats as for Vista.

Hi Peter,

If you've lost the original CD jewel case on which the product key was printed, there are various utilities available to help you to
retrieve the product key from your old PC (eg Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder - a freeware open source utility:
