1. What version of Office did you lose?

2. Did it come with your computer or did you purchase it from a retailer?

(I might be able to help you but my response varies depending on your
answers.)

I dont remember what version I bought, I think it was office 2000, but I
purchased it from a retailer and I also upgraded it to office XP
Professional version 2002. I also bought the upgrade for the same PC. I
wanted to install the same version onto my laptop but all I have is the
upgrade since I lost the main CD and so I cant install it on the laptop.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to install an upgrade version of Office is
to have on hand the old qualifying Office CD. Without
it, you cannot install the upgrade version. You would
need a "Full Version" of Office.

Because it was Office 2000, you are out of luck with getting it replaced
easily. According to Microsoft:

"Microsoft Office 97 suites and Microsoft Office 2000 suites are the only
valid upgrade products for the Office XP suites. You cannot use the Academic
Edition of Office 97 or Office 2000 as a qualifying product."

It looks like you'll have to see if you can buy a copy from something like
eBay. I personally wouldn't buy software in eBay but you're between a rock
and a hard place. Are you **POSITIVE** the CD is lost? Have you looked
everywhere imaginable?

(I was hoping you had lost an Office XP disc and couldn't upgrade to 2003.
If that were the case, you'd have a way to get things replaced.)

I knew that but my question was how do I obtain another copy of the
qualifying CD, will they send me a replacement or will I have to just buy
the whole thing all over again?
