Lost SharePoint Services

We had a running installation of MS PS & WSS. Recently the Default web site
name in WSS was changed and on reseting the site to the original site name,
we have now lost access to WSS. In MS Project Server we get messages about
unable to connect to Sharepoint services when accessing Risks, Issues and
Documents.
I get the same issue on the Admin page when testing the Public Docments area

Any ideas?

I hope whoever did that gets a good half hour in the corporate spanking
machine! You might have to reinstall WSS connecting to original database.
Pleas don't ask me for the specific steps because I'd need to analyze your
setup to lay those out for you.

If I reinstall to a new database, I only lose the documents, risks and
issues, correct?
As the Project Server database itself is on another DB

Bob:

You can reinstall SharePoint and connect to the existing database and loose
nothing.
