lost tasks again

I only used Outlook for the Tasks, not for e-mail or
anything else. No pst files can be found on my HD. Where
would Outlook store or archive my old tasks? What file
extension should I look for?

Tasks, as well as every other Outlook item, are store in a file with type
".pst". They're usually in a hidden folder, so you have to enable hidden
files and folders before you'll find them. They're usually in
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\somefile.PST
